There’s nothing more exciting than getting engaged and embarking on this new journey together with your love! As you inch closer to your Florida wedding, it’s important to stay true to yourself. As a Florida wedding photographer, I love it when my couples plan their day to be as magical and special as their love story! Whether it's in your venue choice, your wedding vows, or the flowers you select for your bridal bouquet, your day should reflect you.

If you’re looking for some wedding day tips to create a day that represents you, keep scrolling!

1. Embrace What Makes You Happy

Now that it's time to plan your Florida wedding, it’s important to remember that this day is about you and your significant other! Weddings can sometimes feel like you have to please everyone, but your day should be representative of you. This is your chance to do the things you love, create a day that lets your personality shine, and do what truly makes you happy. It’s time to honor yourself, celebrate how far you and your partner have come, and create a day of magic.

Weddings can be stressful when there’s the pressure of trying to please guests, but it’s important to create a wedding day that reflects your journey as a couple! Choose themes, colors, and details that represent your dreams, interests, and shared experiences. Mix activities, choose your favorite food, and select music that makes you happy. This is your day!

I’ve seen many weddings in Florida ditch the dollar dance for a longer dance party or end the reception early, so they can have a private last dance! alone! It's your time to create magic.

2. Create New Traditions for Your Florida Wedding

One of my favorite wedding day tips is to choose traditions that align with you and your partner. Not every couple wants a traditional wedding and that’s perfectly fine. Some traditions just aren't for everyone! That’s why I find that it’s best to stick to what you’re both comfortable with and follow your own traditions when planning your wedding.

A Florida wedding is a great place to consider alternatives that are more true and meaningful to you! As a Florida wedding photographer, I love it when my couples shake things up to make their day align more with their personalities and tastes. If you’re a couple that doesn't love the idea of the traditional garter toss or doesn't feel called to do a first look, choose what traditions resonate with you! Whether you want to do a first touch, plant a tree together to symbolize your love or serve cupcakes over a wedding cake, now is your time!

The amazing thing about creating a wedding day that represents you is that you don’t have to do any traditions at all to get amazing Florida wedding photos!

3. Guest List Size Doesn’t Matter

As a Florida wedding photographer, I know that the idea of coming up with a guest list can be anxiety-inducing. Before you get swept away by the idea that you HAVE to invite everyone and include everyone in your day, it’s important that you stay true to what your needs and desires are! Tailor your guest list to those who you truly want to spend this day with and not out of obligation to who you feel you’re supposed to share this day with. You should invite however many guests you feel most comfortable with!

At the end of the day, a small celebration at your favorite steakhouse with a handful of your loved ones can be just as meaningful as having a guest list of 300 people at a luxurious, upscale venue. Your Florida wedding day is all about you and the love of your life. You are the one who will remember your day for years to come! It isn’t about the number of guests, but the warmth and love that fills the room.

You might even want to just skip the stress of having shindig with other people and go the elopement route instead. A Florida elopement can still be a memorable experience, even if it’s just the two of you!

4. Create a Day That’s Personalized to You

When it comes to planning your Florida wedding, there’s no right or wrong way. What’s important is that you create a day that’s authentic to you and your future spouse! This is why one of my favorite wedding day tips for couples is to incorporate personalized, special touches into their day. Your wedding day isn’t a time to worry about what’s “in” or on-trend. It’s the perfect opportunity to let your personality and love shine.

Personalized touches are one of my favorite ways couples create an unforgettable day and there truly are no rules! Do you have a meaningful venue or ceremony location that you’ve been dying to make yours? Now is your chance! Do you have a favorite flower or color scheme you’ve been saving to your Pinterest wedding inspiration board for years? It’s time to make that a reality! Do you have a loved one who passed that you want to honor or a pet you want to include in your day? Have you been dreaming of writing your own vows? Do what makes you happy!

I’ve seen so many of these personal touches while photographing weddings in Florida and every single one has been so memorable!

5. Relax and Be in the Moment for Your Florida Wedding

Another one of my favorite wedding day tips is to relax and be in the moment. I’ve captured many weddings in Florida and I’ll be the first to tell you that your day goes by faster than you can ever imagine! Now is the time to soak it all in and enjoy the ride.

I’ve seen many couples get so caught up in planning and trying to make everything special or meaningful that they often forget that what makes the day special is them! Your wedding is not memorable because of the decor, food, or music. Your day is about more than just getting picture-perfect Florida wedding photos. What makes your wedding unique is your love!
